OUR MUSICAL DIRECTOR

The chorus warmly welcomed Lisa Robathan in 2010 as the new Musical Director. Rehearsals are lively and entertaining - who would have foreseen the chorus singing with actions the 'Grand Old Duke of York' in their warm up period! It is good to see the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the group. .

Lisa originally noticed our advert on a music jobs website and, although having no previous barbershop experience, the rest of the details on her CV were just right for us. In particular the fact is that she is a self confessed ‘a cappella geek’ - a shorthand way of saying that she loves unaccompanied singing, and has proved it by setting up her own mixed choir near Croydon.

In addition she is involved with a smaller semi-professional group, The Few, based in London. Those of us who went to hear these young folk perform around the public areas of the Festival Hall recently were most impressed. Lisa was both singing and conducting the group.

Her day job is working on music syllabus development with Trinity Guildhall examinations board.
